The best kid spaces can handle both playtime and real life.
After a summer of fort-building, craft projects, sleepovers, Legos, snack crumbs and 4,000 toys left on the floor, your playroom has probably seen better days.
But now that school is back in session, those well-loved spaces are hopefully getting a little more organized, and maybe even taking on a new purpose.
Enter: the homework station.
We love designing kid spaces because they give us permission to have a little fun. These are the rooms where we can go all out with creativity, color and imagination. We thrive when we get to design with bold wallpaper, unexpected color combinations, playful patterns, whimsical details and furniture designed specifically with little personalities in mind.
But just because a space is playful doesn’t mean it can’t be practical.

When we design a kid’s room or play space, we’re thinking far beyond the pretty picture.
We choose performance fabrics that can handle spills and stains, durable materials that can withstand everyday wear and tear, and paint colors that feel current and fresh without being so trendy that the room feels dated in a few years.
The goal is always to create a space that feels magical today, but can grow and evolve with your family. A playroom that can eventually become a study space. A reading nook that becomes a quiet place to curl up with a book. A craft table that transitions into a homework headquarters.
